Central Park Concerts

This bulletin board from 1997 is typical of the signs that have welcomed thousands of concertgoers and dancers to Roseville Big Band performances over the decades. It also forms part of the design of the tray card for the Roseville Big Band's recording, Concert in the Park.

The Roseville Big Band and other entertainers perform in the uniquely-shaped band shell on the shore of Lake Bennett in Roseville's Central Park. In this picture, guest tenor saxophonist A. J. Mundahl solos on the Roseville Big Band's July 31, 2007, concert, while volunteers from CTV 15 broadcast the concert live on television channel 15 in Roseville and surrounding areas.

The CTV 15 volunteers, including producer/director John Rusterholz, always arrive several hours early to set up for the concert broadcast. John Rusterholz, CTV producer. Bigger pictures total 52K.
Kirk Lindberg, vocal soloist Roseville Big Band tenor soloist Kirk Lindberg sang "Just the Way You Are".
Diane Lindberg and Karen Dunn joined "Kirkina" to sing "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy".

Sometimes, the band is lucky enough to have two piano players! Jana Nyberg and Tahran Helmberger, pianists. Bigger picture is 21K.
Sarah Morris and Glen Peterson.  Bigger picture is 36K. On the July 4, 2001, concert, vocalist Sarah Morris watched as Glen Peterson improvised a tenor sax solo.
Brian Jacques plays a tenor sax solo Brian Jacques, one of our first guest soloists from Roseville Area High School, played a tenor sax solo while standing in the audience. The bell of his alto trombone showed Glen Newton's reflection at the June 10, 2003, concert.
The band stood up for the climax of "In the Mood". The sax, trombone, and trumpet sections all stand.

Vocalists Glen Newton, Mark Scanlan, Barb Harvey, and Karen Dunn. Bigger picture is 27K. Beautiful weather complemented the vocal quartet rendition of "Blue Skies". The quartet for the June 6, 2000, concert included two of the band's many talented substitute performers.
