Role in Roseville Big Band: 

Mezzo-soprano soloist and lead vocal in the Rosetones; Karen also doubles on cabasa and other Latin percussion instruments.

Karen first sang with the Roseville Big Band at the Tapestry Folkdance Center's Winter Sock Hop, January 20, 1996.

Karen also performs with the International Medalist City of Lakes Sweet Adelines Chorus. Starting in the fall of 2011, she sang lead (and occasionally baritone) in the women's barbershop quartet Keepin Outta Mischief. In 2016 she joined with three other seasoned barbershoppers to form the quartet Sparkle!

Karen formerly sang lead in ICE!, a women's barbershop quartet that entered its first competition in 2003, winning the District 6 quartet contest and continuing on to be ranked as one of the top international quartets for several years. You might have also seen Karen performing with one of her earlier quartets. For two years, Karen sang lead in the quartet Fascination, who won third place in the regional competition twice. She also sang baritone in the quartet Masterpiece, former regional champions, and in StarStruck, who competed as a wildcard from Region 6 in the 2001 international competition in Portland.

You may also have heard Karen performing with Jazz Etc., a septet led by Roseville Big Band trombonist Mike Bratlie, singing the national anthem at numerous Minneapolis Southwest High School hockey games during the 2000-2001 season, subbing in the Nostalgics vocal quartet with the Classic Big Band, or singing with The David Andrew's Big Band.

Since 2013, Karen has sung with The Friday Project, a 6-piece jazz combo led by drummer Dave Tuenge.

Karen also sings in quartets dressed in Victorian costumes as part of The Caroling Company and The Holiday Music Company.

Karen is one of the founding members of Mixed Company Singers, an a capella ensemble formed in 2019.
