Monster Mash

When the band performs Glen Newton's arrangement of "Monster Mash," Glen plays the part of the professor and Jim Foster or Mark Olson is the voice of Igor. Click here to hear excerpts from the arrangement. Click here to see a YouTube video of the band performing Monster Mash at Edinborough Park.

The Roseville Big Band version of the song includes a modified third verse:

The scene was rocking; all were digging the sound
Of some of the best big bands around.
First Miller, then the Dorseys, took the stand,
And everybody cheered for the Roseville Big Band!

The professor wears a lab coat, goggles, and orange gloves. "I was working in the lab late one night ..."
The professor is surprised. "...and suddenly, to my surprise ..."
Swept up in the moment, the professor, too, does the Monster Mash. "...he did the Monster Mash!"
"Tran-syl-van-ia 6-5-oh-oh-oh!"
The professor reminds us of Dracula's telephone number.
"Whatever happened to my Transylvanian Twist?"
The professor reflects Dracula's concern.
"When you get to my door, tell them Boris sent you."
The professor shyly invites visitors.

Another variation on the song is the "Monster Cat Mash," which features different lyrics but uses the same big band arrangement.
