In addition to subbing in the Roseville Big Band, Michael currently performs with the Minneapolis Trombone Choir and the Minnesota State Band. In recent years he has performed with the 9-11 Orchestra and the Golden Valley Orchestra.
He graduated from the Indiana University School of Music. During that time he performed professionally with Dominic Spera and Carol Channing.
Michael also performed on sackbut with the two-time Grammy award winner Sylvia McNair in the Indiana University Early Music Institute.
Following college he performed with the Madison (WI) Symphony Orchestra,the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, the American Wind Symphony, and the Original Hyperion Oriental Fox Trot Orchestra.
