The Dick Roberts Orchestra

Who is Dick Roberts?

"Dick" is saxophonist Dick Wyland, and "Roberts" is trumpeter Bob Hallquist.

The group started around 1961 as a sextet that included Wyland, Hallquist, pianist Norm Herzog, trombonist Mark Lammers and two others.

Over the years, as the market for a sextet dwindled, the group pared down to a trio or quartet, booked as the Norm Herzog Orchestra or the Robert Hallquist Orchestra. However, for the past several years the smaller group has played under the original name for the introduction of new St. Paul Winter Carnival buttons at the St. Paul Hotel.
