John played his Conn 88H with its new dual-bore slide at the June 14, 2011, Roseville Big Band rehearsal.
John played trombone in the St. Anthony Civic Orchestra's June 26, 2011, concert at Como Park.

John first performed with the Roseville Big Band on the June 21, 2011, concert in Central Park.

In addition to subbing in the Roseville Big Band, John plays in the Northeast Orchestra, the Golden Valley Orchestra, the Jewish Community Center Orchestra, and the Saint Anthony Civic Orchestra. Before moving to the Twin Cities in 1976, John also played in the Sioux City Symphony, the Des Moines Symphony, and the Fort Dodge Symphony.

You might have heard John playing in the pit for the River Valley Community Theater's 2008 production of State Fair or the Burnsville Performing Arts Theater's 2010 production of 1940's Radio Show.

John also plays in the Minneapolis Trombone Choir and has subbed for Glen Newton in the Lazy Does It Dixeland combo. He continues to play with a variety of dance bands and combos.

If you attended performances at the KRNT Musical Theater in Des Moines, Iowa before 1976, you might have heard John playing in productions of Camelot, The Music Man, My Fair Lady, Oklahoma, Li'l Abner, or A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.
