Jeff Olsen

Jeff played a trumpet solo at the September 15, 2007, Commemorative Air Force dance. Jeff uses a plunger mute.

Jeff works at Normandale Community College, as a College Lab Assistant and administrative assistant for the music department. He has taught private brass lessons since 1991. Besides playing freelance performances, he sits in with the Normandale Jazz Ensemble, and the University of St. Thomas Jazz Band and Vocal Jazz Ensemble. He also plays trumpet in The Lazy Does It Jazz Band, a traditional dixeland ensemble led by bass saxophonist Len Yaeger.

You may have heard Jeff performing live or on a CD with KGB and the Dale Street Horns.

Jeff studied at Berkelee College of Music in Boston, University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, and the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, from whom he received his BA in music performance. He has earned his K-12 music education license and is close to finishing his MAT (Master of Arts in Teaching) from St. Thomas. He teaches at Normandale Community College.

Jeff first performed with the Roseville Big Band on the May 30, 2006, concert at Como Park.
